Welcome to my blog!
I am a Kenyan girl with a passion for creativity, usually expressed in the form of writing.
Back in high school, I was busy writing short skits and stories while my classmates were studying. I would let them read the stories and get their feedback then immediately start on a ‘revised edition’ of the story. In retrospect, it is a wonder I passed any of my classes. I took blogging a bit more seriously in campus. I would put down my experiences in different cities as short stories for the world to see. After a few posts, I got the desired gratification any writer wishes for – positive reviews of my work! I knew then that writing would always be a part of me, even as I pursued other passions.
With this blog, I have aimed to create a space in which readers and writers can come together and enjoy! One of the main agendas I aim on pushing through this space is the exploration of ways that I (working together with others) can enhance the reading culture in Kenya. At the moment, this blog is the home of weekly bookshop tours, aimed at highlighting as many bookshops as I can find in Nairobi and creating a sort of database for anyone looking for recommendations on where they can buy books.
Aside from the bookshop tours, I use my interactions with influential figures in the Kenyan book community to come up with beneficial articles that would be of interest to book lovers on a global level. This includes discussions with bookshop owners, authors, vendors, book-tubers among others, in an effort to promote bookish content in a relatable manner to readers. Reading is cool and this is the message I would love people to get from my work.
On a professional note, I am in the field of communications. I currently work as a Communications Representative. I went into this path as I felt it was the most suited to eventually bring together my love for writing and languages (polyglot here!) together thus fulfilling my actualization in my career. Once in a while, I might write informative articles that may help anyone working in the communication space enhance themselves, regardless of their specialization (PR, Advertising, Marketing and so on).
I hope you’ll stick around because I have a lot to share with you.
Cheers!
