Today I want to introduce you to one of the most elegant bookworms that I know of: Beatrice. I was linked to Beatrice by my friend and fellow book lover, Frankie. As soon as we started chatting, I realized that Beatrice is a very kind and humorous lady. Beatrice is a practicing lawyer by profession and as if that is not cool enough, she is also a cat mom! I love watching her short videos with her kittens and taking notes from her as I, too, will be a cat mom soon.
I asked Beatrice three questions to shed more light on her love for books and this is what she had to say:
1. You read a healthy amount of non fiction books. What makes you get into them and would you recommend such books to others?
Yes, I read quite a number of non fiction books . I have nothing against fiction, in fact of late that’s what I have been delving into. With non fiction, I normally find that I am able to apply some of the lessons in my life (leveling up), with fiction not so much. For the same reason I would recommend them to others. As it stands my favorite non fiction book is Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl. I read it when I was in some sort of existential crisis and I found it very enlightening.
2. If you could describe the Kenyan bookstagram space in one word, what would it be and why?
Encouraging; because most of the time my inspiration to read a particular book comes from seeing another person’s post or review on the same.
3. What is your favorite part about being a bookstagrammer? Do you see yourself doing this for a long time?
My favorite part about being a bookstagrammer is interacting with other bookish people and of course I feel good about myself when I read a book and get to review it. Makes me feel very sophisticated haha. I would definitely want to do this for a long time; and I hope I do and get better .
Beatrice observes a policy that I found to be quite interesting. She only posts books that she loves and finds interesting on her page. She will not be bothered to talk about books that she does not like – in fact, she will not read them at all, I honestly found this to be quite wise and I do agree with her policy. It only makes sense that we should read and review books that we actually love.
You can follow Beatrice’s bookstagram page for short and precise reviews on her fiction and non fiction reads. From time to time you will also be in for a treat as she displays her furry babies!
