Books First Africa

By Jules  Published On 03/02/2021

This bookshop tour was quite literally a tour. This is due to the fact that Books First Africa is not really a bookshop but rather, a books distributor. They import and distribute books to several retail stores in the country as well as leading supermarkets such as Naivas and Carrefour. For this tour, Mr Amos Muchira (Head of E-Commerce) took me to their warehouse in Imara Daima, where they receive all their book orders. This space was so amazing and I wish I could share it with you, unfortunately, no photos were allowed. After getting a tour of the warehouse and learning about the procedures there, we headed out to Gateway Mall at Syokimau to see their stocked books at the Naivas Supermarket there.

I was immediately impressed by the wide selection of books stocked in the supermarket, all by Books First Africa. What immediately caught my attention was the variety of children’s books that was available. Would definitely recommend for parents with kids who love to read.

Books were not designed like this when I was growing up and these are exciting to see.

The children’s books are sorted in sections ranging from young infants all the way to teenagers. However, adults are also catered for. There is a limited but well stocked section of adult literature ranging from fiction, non-fiction, self-help, business and motivational books. The pricing of these books is more or less the same as that of books in normal bookshops, if not cheaper. I was able to identify a number of well-known authors within this section and this made me happy.

Had to snap a copy of SK!

Books First Africa has arranged for ongoing discounts and offers on a monthly basis for select books. One of the most popular running offer is the buy three books get one free! Who wouldn’t be excited by such an offer though? They also have a section highlighting the books that are on discount every week for their buyers.

Hell's Kitchen fans anywhere?

Books First Africa have been in the distribution game for a long time and I can see why. Their products are in top-tier quality yet affordable. They also cater for people who live far away from our local bookshops and can only access books through supermarkets. Next time you find yourself in Naivas, Carrefour or The Game, make sure you have a look at their books section to enjoy a selection of wonderful books.

Additionally, in case you would like to make your purchase online, you can get in touch with Books First Africa via their official website or Instagram page. Cheers!

These books are so interesting and simplified in a way that makes them fund to read!
And they come in several different focus points
