Another great Thursday for me to introduce another lovely bookstagrammer. Today we have Susan (Sue). Sue’s bookstagram page is one that fascinates me because it is not limited to books alone. She shares bits of her life as well as the many adventures she constantly seems to be on. As an outdoors person myself, I am constantly taking notes of places to visit from her (that’s after I finish taking notes on what books to read next lol). While our interactions have not been too many, she has always been friendly and willing to give her thoughts on whatever topic you approach her with. Also, she is hilarious and we love beautiful, humorous ladies here!

The beauty though...
I asked Susan three questions to learn more about her and her love for books and this is what she had to say:

1. If you could use one word to describe your reading journey, what would it be and why?

I would say fascinating. Since I started reading I tend to go through phases where I pick specific genres of books and so certain books excite me for a certain period of time then I “outgrow” them. It has been an interesting journey.

2. You seem to be very extroverted, with a love for organized group activities. How then are you able to do as much reading as you do?

I am an extrovert and a sucker for group activities. I do, however, block my Sundays just for me. Over the weekends, I do most of my reading on Sundays . My ideal Sunday is waking up at 11 a.m., making pancakes for breakfast and getting cozy on the couch or the balcony with a book. I also read every night (most) before going to bed between 10:00pm and midnight. Sometimes if a book is really good, I will read for an hour before getting ready for work. I do wish I was the kind that would read while on transit because then I would definitely get a lot of pages in lol.

3. Which book genre do you swear by and why do you love it? If you could recommend one book from this genre you’d love everyone to read, which book would it be?

I go through genre phases and I am currently swearing by African Literature rather, books authored by Black people. It is always exciting to read about Africa and Africans. I like learning about different cultures and most of the books I read are just a way to learn about the country before I travel there. One book I would love everyone to read is The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives by Lola Shoneyin. This book will always rank in the top 5 of my favorite books.

I would say Sue’s page is one worth following. As she mentioned, she does read a whole lot of African literature and you can be sure to get great references for your next read. PS, I do have to say I agree about the Lola Shoneyin book. It is an amazing read!

Additionally, if you love organized group activities you will definitely get an idea or two from her page. She is super friendly too in case you need detailed book recommendations. You can follow her bookstagram page here. Cheers!
