Text Book Centre

By Jules  Published On 18/08/2020

When I contacted Text Book Centre and explained my wish to do a #bookshoptour, they immediately agreed to my request to visit their flagship store at Sarit Centre, Westlands, for the tour. Despite being a regular shopper at Text Book Centre, I have never been to their Sarit Centre branch so this came as an exciting new experience for me. From the moment I arrived, the reception was warm and welcoming, right from the guards at the entrance to the assistants stationed at several spots in the store. The store was alive and buzzing with customers (all safety precautions observed) and being in the presence of other bookies made me happy.

How cute is this reading corner though?

At a glance, it is clear to see the diversity in the books stocked at Text Book Centre. I spotted several different book sections such as fiction books for adults, fiction books for young readers, nonfiction books, motivational books, spiritual books, children’s books among others. One of the most exciting sections I came across was the African Writers section. As the name suggests, this section is well stocked with books written by African authors. I was so happy to be informed that this is one of the best performing sections of the store. The books have to be regularly restocked as they sell out very quick. Kenyan readers supporting African writers is the energy I am here for! Fun fact, TBC has a book club and every month there is a link up to discuss the book of the month. The book to be read and discussed in the next meeting is The Havoc of Choice by Wanjiru Koinange.

It was so thrilling to learn that the African Writers section is one of the best performing sections!

In addition to stocking books for recreational purposes, Text Book Centre goes an extra mile by stocking professional and educational books as well. Educational books are in plenty for all stages of learning, from early education to college level books. These include recommended school textbooks, revision books, reference books as well as students’ storybooks and literature books.

School textbooks for all levels

With several branches in different parts of the town, it is easy to dash into one of the stores and acquire a book or two. Additionally, the books are fairly priced, catering to most. Do not panic if you can’t make it to the bookshop, you can make your book purchases online. The online ordering procedure from the Text Book Centre website is as easy as 1 2 3! This is a process I have done severally, and in under five minutes. If you know the title of the book you would like to purchase, go to the website and search for it by name and author. Once you locate it you will receive the option to add it to your cart and then proceed to confirm the order, make the necessary payment and checkout. You will receive an order confirmation text and email from the team and the books will be delivered to you as soon as possible. I once got my order delivered on the same day I ordered it!

If you love classics, here is your plug!

Would I recommend Text Book Centre to someone in search of books? Yes, I would. The store is well stocked so chances are quite high that you will find the book you are looking for. The prices are fairly placed, catering to the common mwananchi. The fact that they have several branches within the country also makes them quite accessible. The diversity in the items stocked in the store will make your visit worthwhile. And did I already mention their excellent online service? You can visit the Text Book Centre website to learn more about their stores and what they have to offer. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
